A prognostic and predictive computational pathology immune signature for ductal carcinoma in situ: retrospective results from a cohort within the UK/ANZ DCIS trial

The Lancet Digital Health,   August 1, 2024

This study developed a TIL density-based biomarker and validated its prognostic value in a cohort of 755 DCIS patients. Results showed that high TIL density was significantly associated with increased recurrence risk, especially invasive recurrence in the same breast, and greater benefit from adjuvant radiotherapy. These findings underscore the potential of AI-driven TIL quantification to personalize DCIS treatment and improve clinical outcomes.
